Jane

Jane is a bodyworker who utilises massage therapy, energy work and the imaginal to heal trauma and unblock obstacles in the body, so that people can become their full expression in the world.

You can find out more about it on her website.

Jane has been amassing a toolkit that she has used in her own processing and healing journey. She has combined everything that has worked really well into this unique style of massage that aims to care for and listen to the whole of someone’s being.

She aims to find the core of someone’s pain and create healing through the simple act of loving touch and presence.

She says, “I’m trying to put a lot of loving touch into a world that often feels starved of loving touch. Bodywork is a beautiful thing to me. People are often slowed down in the world by the pain their body carries and I’m passionate about helping people release this so that they can feel more alive and are more able to follow their passion or purpose in the world.”

Jane lives in the USA with her dog, Nyla. She focuses her life around relationships, whether it’s friends and family or working with clients, and is interested in understanding and exploring relationship dynamics and what deep relationships are made of.

The Photoshoot

We were on retreat in Joshua Tree National Park with a small group of people. It felt like a special experience to be in this space with friends in such a beautiful location and sharing gifts together.

I was super lucky to receive a massage from Jane the day before the shoot and found the experience deeply moving and healing. I could feel the strength and gentleness of both the touch and presence that Jane held throughout the massage and experienced the deep layers of tension that this was able to unlock and release for me.

It was super nice to be able to do the photoshoot the next day and capture this sense of poise and power.

Jane often has her eyes closed when she is massaging, which allows her to be really dropped in to her body. She is listening through her body and allowing the movement and massage to come directly through her hands.

This takes her out of visual mode and puts her more in touch with the direct conversation between the bodies, which can go in interesting and unexpected ways. She will sometimes make use of the imaginal to share images or felt-senses of things that are arising.

She listens deeply and is receptive to the whole of the client’s being; she follows what feels important and makes sure there is enough time for things to be addressed and held.

All of this felt so deeply embodied in the way that Jane carried herself through the experience and connected with Anne, that it was a pleasure to photograph. Moving between the postures that Jane held, the calm concentration on her face to the details of the touch and contact.
